Henry Westphal opened the Daily Grind Café and Espresso Bar in April of 2014. While operating a coffee bar in Hayward, California since 1996, he felt it was finally time to open a neighborhood café in his hometown of Livermore.
Henry's background started in the hotel and restaurant management program at Cal Poly Pomona, where after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, began working for Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Henry stayed with Hyatt Hotels for approximately 15 years, at which time he left to work for a boutique hotel company in Northern California.
When starting a family proved too important to sacrifice time, he opened his first coffee bar in San Francisco, which ultimately led to his current location in Livermore.
The employees at the Daily Grind are more than just your average Baristas! They have great attitudes, wonderful personalities, and most importantly they always strive to make your experience at the Café one that is pleasurable. The staff are excellent in their craft of preparing designer sandwiches, wraps, lattes or just merely a pour over cup of coffee. But most importantly, they pridefully offer friendly, considerate service and conversation. Each one of our staff members are very special, each bringing a little uniqueness to the Café.

Meet the Employees
Paul has worked at the Daily Grind since its opening in April of 2014. He loves meeting and talking to all of our great customers. Some of his hobbies include model painting and writing. His favorite Daily Grind food is the P.S.T.A. sandwich. When he is thirsty, nothing satisfies him more than an iced chai with soy milk.
Andrea has worked at the Daily Grind for 4 years and recently graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a degree in Marketing. Her main hobby is baking and she actually sells some of her treats at the cafe! She is always taking orders for anything baking related. Check out some of her stuff on the link below!
Her favorite Daily Grind food and drink are the vegetarian sandwich and the Powerhouse smoothie!
Kyle has worked at the Daily Grind since it has opened. When he is not working, you can always catch him on the Livermore Frisbee Golf Course! He also loves all types of music, especially country. Kyle has even driven down to southern California for Stagecoach multiple times. His favorite food and drink from the Daily Grind are the Avocado Toast and an iced dirty chai.
Jacob has worked at the Daily Grind for a year and a half. He graduated from Livermore High School in 2018 and is currently going to Las Positas to study Linguistics. Some of his hobbies include building models with Paul and sports like basketball and baseball. His favorite food and drink from the Daily Grind are a breakfast burrito with bacon and an iced hazelnut cream latte.
Justin is currently a senior in high school at LHS. After graduation his plans are to go to Las Positas and then the United States Air Force to study Mechanical Engineering. In his free time he likes to mountain bike or go skiing, depending on the season. His favorite Daily Grind food and drink are the BLATT and a peppermint mocha.
